Ah, Fall. Scrolling through Instagram this week, I can tell that we are all collectively rejoicing over the coming of this new season. My favorite season. The season when the air turns crisp and the leaves fall and the apples grow and the pumpkins adorn every stoop, table, latte, and candle. It always feels like the start of a new chapter...or maybe like cracking open the fresh pages of a new book. Fall both invites us to change and welcomes us back to the familiar.
Summer was busy and full of traveling adventures, and as soon as I landed from my last summer adventure, I was so ready for all things AUTUMN. High on my to-do list was to get my house decorated for the season. So, even though the afternoons are still hot around here, and the leaves haven't even started changing, I am embracing the joy of this season head on in our home.
So, come on in to our Fall House Tour. I'm starting with just our main level...living, kitchen, office. This year, I both brought in more neutrals and fresh pops of color via muted colored pumpkins and some early Fall flowers (hydrangeas from our yard and some beautiful wildflowers from Trader Joes).
Let's start with this cute little vignette by the front door...
I love that pretty, mercury glass pumpkin from Home Goods!
This chair is the first place I go every morning for my devotion after I drink a glass of water and get my Aeropress coffee in hand. I don't always drink out of that fancy little teacup (ok...I've never actually used that fancy little teacup), but I thought some Chai tea in a pretty vintage piece would just say "Fall."
I had a really hard time with the lighting in our living room for these photos. The sun and shadows were not cooperating. So, let's move on to the breakfast nook...aka my favorite corner of the house.
This is where I really put those Cinderella pumpkins to work. Aren't they just the cutest? I also replaced my bright summer pillows with some more muted blues, beiges, and yellows.
There is a local pumpkin patch here that is just so fabulous. I could spend hours just browsing because I love all the pumpkin variations so much. Seriously, it's embarrassing how long I spent wandering through the piles of pumpkins only to buy three pumpkins last Friday. Also, those gorgeous gourds were only $3.95 a piece. A steal, I tell ya.
Earlier this week I posted about our kitchen updates. We love our new countertops, and this kitchen is now the perfect neutral backdrop for seasonal decor.
I use my dutch oven constantly in the cooler months. On this week's menu was pumpkin curry soup and chili.
Let's move over to our antique mantel in the office, shall we? I haven't shown photos of this room in a while. Because it used to be gray. And on a whim we grabbed a leftover can of white paint and turned the room white. But then the white was semi-gloss, and let me tell you, sheen matters. Because I hate the new paint. So we are going to paint it again...a blue color. But in the mean time, I decided I could still deck it out for Fall.
Jack the Cat is the cutest accessory for every season.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Books are one of my favorite accessories.
Keep an eye out for pretty, vintage books in fun colors, and you will use them all year. I hunted my house for books in warm, Fall tones like navy, yellow, orange, forest green, and burgundy. I use them in every room. Books are so timeless, and they give a nod to a simpler time and to long, rainy Fall afternoons spent curled up under a blanket.
If you remember from previous house tours, I always have a chalkboard on this mantel. This oil painting was an antique store find that has been hanging out in our basement, and I just love these colors for Fall.
Thanks for visiting our Fall home! It's still early in the Fall season, so I am sure that I will be updating and changing things as the season progresses. Stay tuned for more of our Fall house!
