If you missed yesterday, feel free to check out my post about our first days in Southern California along the beautiful coastline. Day 3 & 4 were spent exploring the city!
Jeremy's cousin, Jason, and his wife, Christa, live in Los Angeles (Jealous!), and we spent Saturday afternoon eating Greek fusion food close to Little Tokyo and playing tourists at Hollywood Boulevard. We had a blast; we wish they lived closer to us! On Saturday evening, we went to the opening UCLA Football game at the Rose Bowl. No vacation would be complete for Jeremy without a sporting event, and since we've been together, I have grown to appreciate sports more and more. It is my goal to actually understand football and be able to pay attention through a whole game by the Super Bowl this year. That means I have a lot of work to do. Sunday was one of my favorite days! We spent the morning relaxing at our bungalow (as we did every other day) and then we went to Warner Brothers Studios for a studio tour. I am a die hard Gilmore Girls fan, and I completely geeked out over every part of Stars Hollow's set! Fellow Gilmore Girls fans, the set has been converted for other TV shows, but you can still tell which buildings are Lorelai's House, Luke's Diner, Ms. Patty's Dance Studio, Kim's Antiques, Taylor's Grocery, etc. I saw the "street" where Rory gets hit by a deer and her study tree at "Yale." I feel silly. Put me next to some celebrity in Nashville and I don't blink twice, but take me to Stars Hollow and I'm like a kid in a candy store.
We also toured the sets of The Mentalist and Big Bang Theory, and we saw a bunch of Harry Potter set pieces and costumes (eek!), but I couldn't take photos. Sorry, folks.
Basically, the whole tour was awesome. I HIGHLY recommend it!
On Sunday, we also took a trip to the LA Farmer's Market and The Grove, did a little driving around, and headed out to the Santa Monica pier to mingle with 1.2 million other Labor Day enthusiasts. I felt like a very squished bee in a beehive, but the Pacific Wheel and the most magnificent sunset I've seen made it worth it! On our final morning, we just relaxed in San Pedro at the beach on a very foggy labor day before heading back to the airport for our long flight home happy, and ready to sleep in our own beds. Thanks, Los Angeles, for an amazing adventure for two newlyweds. We love you, and we can't wait to go back!
P.S. We rented a little bungalow through a site called AirBNB. A review of our experience on the blog tomorrow!
